Our staff works tirelessly to serve the members of our congregation and community to show the love of God and spread the Good News to a lost and dying world. If there is ever a way they can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to ask. They truly believe God has placed them here to serve.
Jason began serving Berea in February of 2014. He is from Virginia Beach, but came most recently from Newsoms Baptist Church where he had served as their Pastor since 2007. Jason has a passion for preaching and helping lead God's people where He desires them to go. He also loves reading, baseball and coffee and tries to mix the three whenever possible.
Jason and his wife, Chellie have been married for 18 years. Chellie enjoys music and has a Masters Degree from Southwestern (where she and Jason met) in that field. Chellie and Jason have three children: Joshua (15), Emma Lee (10) and Samuel (9).
Together the Wise family is excited to be in Elizabeth City and are anxiously anticipating what God has in store for Berea Baptist.
Pastor Charlie, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia joined the Berea staff in 2014 with more than 7 years of ministry experience. A graduate of Liberty University, Charlie is dedicated to seeing youth develop a desire for a closer walk with the Lord by getting engaged with God's Word and through service in the church, their homes and throughout the community.
Charlie is married to his best friend, Jessica Troxell with whom he has four children, Victoria, Stephen, Noah and Leia. In his free time he enjoys reading, fishing, working outdoors, and coaching at MACU, where he is the Head women's basketball Coach.
Chellie began serving at Berea in 2016, but has been working in churches most of her life. She has a passion for music and has used her God-given abilities in that area to share the good news of God's love with others since she was a young child. She is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. She and her husband, Jason, met while they were both pursuing Masters degrees at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She has since served by his side as his helpmate in ministry while raising their three children, Joshua, Emma Lee and Samuel. She is excited to see where God will continue to lead their family in the future as the children get older and thus allow more time for she and her husband to work together in His service.
When she has free time, Chellie enjoys reading, crafting, researching DIY projects and watching the best 15-year-old pitcher she knows throw strikes!
